Personal Protection & Security Training

A well trained dog is the best, #1 crime prevention available. You do not have to worry about wires being cut, false alarms, power outages, dead batteries or caring pepper spray, . You will have instant protection. In many cases, merely the presence of a well trained protection dog is sufficient to avoid most confrontations.

Not every dog is capable of doing true protection work, you must first have complete control of your dog both on- and off-leash before beginning protection training.

What is a trained protection dog?

A trained protection dog is social, friendly, trustworthy, obedient, and a great companion. A barking dog in the back yard offers you no personal protection and will most likely fail to stop a criminal. A trained protection dog is suitable to be integrated into your home, your family and society. Properly raised and correctly trained, your trained protection dog is balanced, safe, and under the control of its owner. It is an educated animal knowing when to react with hostility and when not to. The trained protection dog has become an expert in human behavior knowing the difference between horse play and a threatening situation or person. It can discern between a friend and a person with ill intent. This type of trained dog presents no danger to the public.

What can you expect from a trained protection dog?

  • If you hear a noise at night, you can command you dog to check it out
  • Instantly acts (attack) on command
  • If you take a walk, children can safely approach and pet your dog
  • Your dog will protect your vehicle, home and family from intruders
  • Your dog will work from voice and hand commands on or off a leash
  • Friends and family will feel safe and not threatened being around your dog

Our Personal Protection classes trains your dog to:

  • show aggression on command and stop the show of aggression on command
  • on-leash bite on command and release of bite on command
  • bite without command when owner/handler is physically assaulted and release of the bite on command
  • bite from a "stay" or "down" when called by the handler to defend

We offer several levels of protection training. The length of time and classes required depends upon your skill level and the level you would like your dog to attain. The general cost for the protection training will range between $395 and $1,500.

As an owner, you must understand the responsibility of having a protection dog. Not all breeds are suitable because many lack the size, temperament or drive to effectively deter an intruder or attacker. It's best to consult with a qualified professional dog trainer who will be able to advise you before purchasing such a dog.
